5 Ancient Habits to Feel Better Than Ever

No one is exempt from the only constant in life: stress. Change has affected people for generations and will forever continue to. You've found yourself here to know how to make better choices and there are 5 (FREE! plus one bonus!) fool-proof ways to make life work for you, instead of the other way around.

As you already know, life can shift at any given moment & we are sensitive to our environment. Therefore, the most effective way to embrace "what is" is to adopt the first of the (not new but insanely effective!) five ancient habits that will positively impact your life.

1. Listen to Bruce Lee.

The saying made most popular by Bruce Lee is to "be like water" for a reason! Water is the most adaptable substance that we know of on this planet. We are surrounded & made of mostly water, too. It is recommended by many health professionals to consume at least half of your body weight in ounces of water daily. This is easier to do when we eat water-dense foods. Plus, drinking clean and safe water will aid in mental clarity, as well as promote our organs do their job: to work their best at keeping us healthy and thriving! Pro-tip: find and follow your dosha composition and learn what foods affect your overall wellness most!

2. Don't obstruct your purpose.

Rest, recovery, and solitude are one in the same. Creating space and time to "just be" (as my late mentor would say) is essential to healthy living. When we are free from the world and its noisy & mainstream shenanigans, we are no longer obstructed from our purpose. Plainly put, we require rest. Rest can look like meditation or peaceful solitude in a safe place. Rest can look like 5 minutes out of your office chair or in the park across the street from your work; like reflection or relaxation into your favorite philosophy or scripture. You know best which style would work for you and your lifestyle. Get out of your own way. Your future self will thank your later.

3. Be good to your brain and guts.

Tired and crashing mid-day, grabbing the sugary snacks? Studies show that when our nighttime sleep cycle is affected our performance is significantly impacted. Not only that, but our inner wellness is also affected! Realistically, allowing our mind AND body a good night's sleep is paramount to an awesome & productive day! Hormones and other good living organisms inside our brain and guts need rest to work properly. Some folks count sheep for their winding-down process. Some people opt into a full mind-body reset/cleanse or guided visualization from their favorite app to help them relax. I recommend finding something before you hit the sheets that encourages your mind and body to get ready for relaxing.

4. Evoke your inner apothecary.

There is TONS of data and scientific evidence showing that laughing promotes natural healing benefits. Did you know that endorphins and dopamine (natural hormones and molecules) influence feelings of pleasure and affect our sense of accomplishment, serving as a natural pain reliever?! We have free access to wellness within ourselves, available to us when we allow it. Choosing a smile as often as you can remember is the start to evoking this always accessible apothecary. A smile is inviting and could change the course of someone else's day, without you knowing anything about them. Keep in mind, "humor is a habit, not a talent."

5. Success right from the moment you wake up.

So what? We have all these great ways to positively impact our lives. The best question we've yet to ask is: What good are they if we don't use them? The fifth tip is all about working smarter instead of harder: implement a routine or ritual that ties all the others together. For example, creating a perfect ritual around drinking your daily water intake creates success right from the moment you wake up to the moment you fall asleep. You can work your routine to include daily scripture, healthcare or maintenance, or even a social interaction. This is what we call feeding a bird with multiple scones, my friend!

Bonus: Your superpower is knowing you best.

If feeding two birds with one scone isn't what you hoped to read about, then know one thing before you walk away: any health, spiritual, or wellness coach can give you the answer book to all your questions, but if you don't want better, you'll never receive it. You've got to want your goal like a drowning man wants air.

Regardless of where you're from or what your background looks like, a healthy nervous system is impacted by your ability to advocate for yourself and live with discernment. All of these tips promote spiritual development and maturity, which can be lonely and even more so exhilarating. Remember, the choice for your best next step is on YOU!

Until next time,

Ang
